Staff Attorney

The Community Builders, Inc., the nation’s largest nonprofit urban housing developer, currently has an opening for an attorneys to join its General Counsel's office  in Boston.  Founded in 1964, TCB has completed or preserved more than 25,000 units of affordable and mixed-income housing, built a property management portfolio consisting of over 100 developments housing more than 16,000 residents and developed more than 420,000 square feet of commercial space.  We seek an attorney with excellent academic credentials, superb analytical and writing skills, and one to three years of experience in, and a strong commitment to, our work in housing and community development.  We are also willing to consider exceptionally qualified recent graduates with relevant professional, clinical or academic experience. 

TCB’s Legal Department has unparalleled experience in permitting, structuring and negotiating complex real estate transactions and in particular, complex mixed-finance and mixed-use transactions and other affordable housing transactions involving multiple financing sources.  We provide corporate- legal services relating to the operation of the company and the developments it owns and manages.  These services include personnel issues, litigation, corporate formation and maintenance, corporate financing, corporate governance, compliance, asset and property management, and exempt organizations matters.  We also provide legal services relating to the structuring and closing of complex transactions, including structuring and negotiating financing, title and real estate conveyancing, zoning analysis and relief, review of environmental matters, organization of ownership entities, and complex financings involving multiple private and public funding sources.

The selected candidate will report to the company’s General Counsel.
