Homeownership

Homeownership, the American dream, is a key component of successful neighborhood revitalization. For most Americans, a home is the single largest asset they will own in their lifetimes. Through housing development, employment programs, and family asset building initiatives, TCB puts residents on the path to homeownership. We develop high quality, affordable homeownership opportunities, either as a stand-alone project or as part of a HOPE VI or other larger neighborhood revitalization involving rental housing, commercial space, and community facilities. We specialize in integrating subsidy resources such as HOPE VI, HOME, CDBG, and FHLB to make homes affordable to first-time homebuyers.

In comprehensive neighborhood revitalization settings, for-sale housing completes a continuum of housing choices, allowing families to progress from subsidized rental housing to homeownership within the community. In either case, we work with local partners to provide effective educational homebuyer education to first-time homebuyers.

With homeownership projects in Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia, The Community Builders, Inc. has a broad understanding of how to build affordable for-sale housing in different markets.
