HOPE VI

Through HUD's HOPE VI public housing transformation program, The Community Builders, Inc. takes on some of the toughest redevelopment challenges facing our cities today.

Working in collaboration with residents, community organizations, the business community, government agencies and foundations, we transform distressed housing projects into anchors for revitalization and become a long-term, active stakeholder in our communities.

TCB is one of the most active developers in HUD's HOPE VI public housing transformation program. Our 15 HOPE VI prior and current engagements include projects in Hartford, CT; Chicago, IL; Louisville, KY; Boston, MA; Holyoke, MA; New Brunswick, NJ; Durham, NC; Akron, OH; Cincinnati, OH; Coatesville, PA; McKees Rocks, PA; Norfolk, VA; and Wheeling, WV. We are also undertaking high-impact public and assisted housing redevelopment projects outside the HOPE VI program in Pittsburgh and Indianapolis. All told, this activity involves over $714 million in development activity consisting of over 4,400 units of new housing.
