Public Policy

The Community Builders, Inc. is recognized as an industry leader in affordable housing development and comprehensive neighborhood revitalization. Our position offers us a voice in national policy discussions around urban revitalization, housing program design and development, housing finance and tax matters, and housing-based resident service delivery.

We maintain an office in Washington, DC to engage public policy issues that support our business development efforts and affordable housing more generally. We regularly participate in forums, policy discussions, and industry groups to advance specific issues.

Currently, with industry colleagues we are supporting Administration and Hill efforts to design new strategies for Choice Neighborhoods, Sustainable Communities, and the Transformation of Rental Assistance, along with continuing efforts to advance HOPE VI, Mixed Finance and other initiatives supporting the redevelopment of the public housing inventory. We also continue to actively support policy and program initiatives to preserve the affordable housing stock.

The Community Builders, Inc. is especially engaged in confronting our nation’s foreclosure crisis, having been awarded a major HUD Neighborhood Stabilization grant to redevelop foreclosed and abandoned multifamily housing in targeted neighborhoods.

We routinely offer comments on current policy and program development matters and have authored a number of practice-oriented articles for journals and other forums related to our housing and community development activities. Our latest comments and articles are available below.
