TCB has managed this 85-unit 202/8 development in Boston's North End since initial occupancy in July 1980. Management meets with the board of directors of the Casa Maria Housing Corporation annually to present for comment and approval the fiscal year operating budget, and communicates with the president about significant occurrences as the need arises. Despite the ethnic nature of this neighborhood, management has been successful in obtaining the sponsor's support in meeting affirmative marketing objectives. TCB has worked extensively with the North End Health Center to continually identify and address the needs of this very frail, elderly population. The site manager coordinates a variety of social activities, including arts and crafts and cooking. The North End Health Center staff provide homecare, health and health aid, exercise programs, and crisis and mental health services on the site. TCB received HUD approval for the use of residual receipts to fund the North End Health Center contract for twenty hours per week of on-site service coordination. In 2000, HUD recognized Casa Maria as one of its top 1000 performing properties.
