Southampton Meadows is a two-and-a-half-story wood frame building consisting of 30 one-bedroom units and 10 efficiencies. Construction was completed in July 1989. The Community Builders was the development consultant and is co-sponsor of the project with the Housing Allowance Project. Management met frequently with residents during the first months of occupancy to develop cooperatively the policies and procedures of the development and to assist in the formation of a residents' association. This development, financed and subsidized by the HUD 202/8 program, is unusual in that more than 50 percent of the residents are non-elderly disabled persons. This mix of residents has proven to be successful. As mentioned previously, Southampton Meadows and College Highway are managed by the same staff.
