Carolyn Gatz

Acting Director of Ways & Means

Carolyn Gatz, acting director of the Ways & Means initiative for The Community Builders, has a long record of success in stimulating innovation and in fostering productive strategic collaborations in the public and non-profit sectors.

As an independent consultant, Ms. Gatz combines the research and analytic skills she developed as an award-winning journalist with those she gained while earning a Masters Degree in Public Administration from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.

Before establishing her consulting practice, Ms. Gatz served as a special assistant to the Mayor of Louisville, directing the Louisville Empowerment Zone and on the management team that oversaw the groundbreaking, HOPE VI revitalization of the Park DuValle neighborhood in Louisville.

For the last ten years, Ms. Gatz has provided strategic consulting to the Making Connections Louisville initiative of The Annie E. Casey Foundation with particular responsibility for community- and workforce-development aspects of the initiative.
