Tom Currell
Tom Currell is director of development for The Community Builders, Inc., with responsibility for implementing all of the company’s real estate development activities in the Northeast region. He has over 20 years experience in managing all facets of real estate development, finance and operation.
Currell has held senior management positions and led development initiatives that include large scale, urban redevelopment, multi-family housing, mixed-use, commercial office and retail projects. His past responsibilities have included project feasibility analysis, site selection, acquisition, conceptual planning, design, permitting, finance and construction in six states throughout the US. He has orchestrated all aspects of real estate finance representing both the lender and the owner in transactions involving institutional and private equity investors, as well as numerous public development incentive and tax credit programs. His academic preparation in industrial/organizational psychology is grounded in systems analysis and performance management. This training, combined with many years of experience in developing real estate assets across a variety of settings have developed a broad skill set in technical, legal and financial disciplines, the ability to facilitate effective communication across these disciplines, and the leadership ability to help focus the work of internal staff and consultants on key business priorities. He is committed to building developments which demonstrate industry leading design quality, energy efficiency, and sustainable development practices that will maximize long term asset value, investment return and marketability while responding to the needs of residents and the communities where we work.
Currell and his family love being in the outdoors, and are often found hiking, bicycling, paddling and skiing.
