With over 25 years of development experience, Jan Brodie is an invaluable addition to TCB's Northeast Development team. She brings a diverse set of development skills and knowledge, including experience as an architect, in corporate real estate finance, and as the Vice President of two prestigious development firms.
Ms. Brodie began her career in real estate with the design of new homes in Boston, Cape Cod, and Philadelphia, and acquired and developed downtown townhomes and suburban land for sale and subdivision respectively. This work was followed by corporate real estate investment for both Aetna pension fund accounts and The Stop & Shop Supermarket Company.
These large scale transactions for national companies led to real estate development on a more regional level. As Vice President of real estate development for Graham Gund Architects, Inc., Jan established project feasibility and set financial objectives for project managers on all development projects. She maintained budgetary control over new purchases and sales; executed refinancings and restructuring of existing portfolio, and managed new and historic projects from concept to completion. In 1996, she became a consultant for FXM Associates, located in southeastern Massachusetts. She developed downtown and waterfront redevelopment strategies along the East Coast, by taking vacant and abandoned buildings and sites to RFPs for full rehab/reuse. Her development work helped revitalize sections of New Bedford, Greenfield, and Plymouth, MA, to name a few.
Most recently, Ms. Brodie provided a full range of development services as Vice President of the Armory Revival Company, Providence, RI. Services included project feasibility, setting budgets and cash flow projections, environmental and energy due diligence, securing financing, involving Historic, New Markets and LIHTC tax credits, debt and equity, and LEED certification. She assembled teams of designers and engineers; bid and negotiated construction contracts, presented projects through City and community approvals; secured all environmental, building permits, and utility approvals as needed; coordinated marketing efforts of in-house brokerage; and oversaw construction through to occupancy. Projects included mixed-income, mixed-use, and involved both historic preservation as well as new construction.
