Bart Mitchell joined The Community Builders, Inc. (TCB) on July 1, 2010 as Chief Operating Officer. As COO, he has overall operational responsibility for the organization and manages the work of TCB's leadership team to ensure that TCB sets realistic operating goals and meets critical objectives.
Mr. Mitchell served as Deputy Development Advisor to the Mayor of Boston in the 1980's then worked at TCB for six years in the 1990's as a Director of Finance and project manager for select development projects. Since then, he has served as Chief Operating Officer of Beacon/Corcoran Jenison Partners developing HOPE VI communities in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions and as President of Mitchell Properties LLC, a developer and owner of high quality residential and mixed-use real estate ventures in the Boston area.
Bart earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Williams College in 1980 with Highest Honors in Political Economy and his Master of Public Policy degree in 1984 from Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government with a concentration in Finance and Urban Development Policy. He is a current member of the Boston Air Pollution Control Commission and of the board of trustees of The Winsor School in Boston where he chairs the school's Facilities Committee. He is a past board member of The Park School in Brookline, MA and of Williams College in Williamstown, MA.
